A psychiatrist is a medical doctor with specialized training in diagnosing and treating emotional problems and mental health conditions.

According to the American Psychiatric Association, Telemedicine is the provision of health care from a distance through technology, often using videoconferencing. Telepsychiatry, a subset of telemedicine, can involve providing a range of services including psychiatric evaluations, therapy, patient education and medication management.

Here at Integrated Behavioral Health Services, we provide Telepsychiatry Services to meet the needs of our clients in Virginia and North Carolina. There is always  a solution to getting the care you need here at IBHS.

Dr. Thompson specializes in General Adult Psychiatry and is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. She treats Anxiety, Bipolar Disorder, Depression, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Posttraumatic Stress, and Psychosis.

No. The purpose of a psychiatric evaluation and assessment is to closely analyze all the factors that may contribute to the difficulty you are experiencing. Once the biological, social, and psychological factors involved and how they interact is determined, IBHS can then make treatment recommendations.

Treatment plans including medication may or may not be indicated or prescribed. Here at IBHS, we work collaboratively with our clients to hear their concerns, questions, and to agree upon treatment goals and outcomes. Clients are welcomed and encouraged to meet with Dr. Thompson for a consultation and learn about their options.

Dr. Thompson is licensed in the states of Virginia and North Carolina at this time.

IBHS LLC is an outpatient telepsychiatry practice and does not provide emergency care for mental, physical, or behavioral presentations. This includes, but is not limited to, emergency management of active substance intoxication or withdrawal, overdose of prescribed or recreational drugs, and acute management of suicidal, self-harming, or aggressive/agitated behaviors. Any client presenting with an emergent condition will be referred to the nearest emergency room for treatment.

The Ryan Haight Online Pharmacy Consumer Protection Act of 2008 was created to regulate online internet prescriptions, is enforced by the DEA (Drug Enforcement Agency) and also imposes rules around the prescription of controlled substances through telepsychiatry (live interactive videoconferencing).
Integrated Behavioral Health Services LLC is a 100% telepsychiatry practice and as such is mandated by the Ryan Haight Act not to prescribe any controlled substances (i.e. benzodiazepines, stimulants, etc).

IBHS LLC is an out-of-network cash pay private practice. Clients are directly charged after each session. However, clients can access a superbill which they can present to their insurance directly to request reimbursement for out-of-network coverage as their policy allows.

At the time of service, payment type (debit card, credit card).

We also accept payments with a flexible spending account (FSA) and health savings account (HSA). Patients may file for out- of- network reimbursement through their insurance company.

Dr. Thompson typically follows up with patients between 2 weeks to 12 weeks, depending on the level of complexity for medication management.

Dr. Thompson recommends a minimum of once weekly therapy sessions in order to achieve the desired efficacy.

IBHS LLC kindly requests 24-hour notice for any cancellations or changes in appointment day/time. Any cancellations made after the 24-hour window will be charged 100% of the full fee.
